The Golden Eras of Gaming

See our picks of the Golden Eras of Gaming after the jump...

When were the Golden Eras of Gaming?

Since the late 1950s with the advent of "Tennis for Two" and later "Space War!", gaming has become deeply ingrained in our lives. Compare the computers and consoles of the past with the latest technological behemoths that sit beneath your high definition television, and the shift is truly phenomenal.

But when were the golden ages of gaming? You may think one of them was the 1970s and 1980s when the home computer was in its pomp? Or the dawn of the console age in the 1990s? Or perhaps now, with the internet revolution and the first tentative steps into the realms of motion control and high definition graphics?

While we at Megabits love nothing more than checking out the latest platforms and new releases, we also remember our gaming roots... and have lovingly penned our memories of some of the classic systems and games from years gone by.

From the Amstrad CPC 464 to the Amiga CD32, and Nintendo's Gameboy to the Atari Lynx, we pick some of the games that showcase these once great technologies.
