Ever wondered why your football team of choice isn't doing particularly well in the league? Or why your country crashed out of the World Cup with a whimper? According to a story in the UK's Daily Star, video games may be to blame.
Apparently, the multi-millionaires who strut their stuff on the football pitch each week aren't performing as they should because they're absolutely addicted to gaming.
This revelation comes from a sports psychotherapist who claims that players are spending a few too many hours in front of the screen, playing on their consoles. This isn't particularly surprising, however, as Megabits reported in February. The article continued:
“We were travelling with one player who had played a video game for seven hours on the coach. He hadn’t taken any fluids on board and hadn’t eaten.Doesn't sound too bad to me but perhaps they should instead be playing the likes of FIFA 10 and Pro Evolution Soccer 2010? I'd suggest that with games getting increasingly realistic, it might actually do them some good and help them brush up on their skills - especially those who failed to cut the mustard at the World Cup this summer!
“He’d then gone to his room and missed the Friday evening talk and meal. They all seem to love Modern Warfare 2.”
